Rosthern Wheat Kings Girls Midget Hockey begin 2013-14 Season

The girl's season got off to a busy start.  They have played 4 games in the first two weeks of their season..  Each game has seen improvement in the team's performance.  The team includes girls from Rosthern, Cudworth, Dalmeny, Wakaw.Borden, Hague and Hanley areas.  So far they have played two Saskatoon teams and Melfort twice.  They had a very exciting game against Melfort on Saturday November 23rd.   In the final minutes of the game, the Wheat Kings pulled their goalie to tie the game in a flurry of action with less than one minute to play.  Unfortunately the goal was disallowed and the Wheat Kings could not repeat the goal in the 45 seconds remaining in the game!  The Wheat Kings play this coming Wednesday in Saskatoon at Harold Latrace Arena in Saskatoon at 9:30 pm.

Girls Volleyball Top 4 Finish at Provincials!

Provincial Volleyball took place in Watrous and Lanigan last weekend on November 15 and 16th..  The girls played 3 intense matches on Friday.  They split with Waldheim in an exciting  first match, defeated Wynward in a split and lost two straight to  Watrous.  Round robin play continued Saturday morning with RJC defeating  Rossignol.  We defeated Foam Lake in the quarter final cross over game to advance to the semi finals.  Another loss to Waldheim  moved RJC to the Bronze medal match.  Lanigan came out strong to take the match from RJC.  It was a great weekend of great volleyball.  Thanks for the exciting season girls!  Top 4 is a great way to end a great season!

Rosthern Wheat Kings Boys Hockey Begins 2013-14 season!

The Rostherns Wheat Kings are off to a strong start.  The Wheat Kings dominated the game against Beardy's at home last Wednesday night.  Next home action for the Wheat Kings is Wednesday, November 20th at 8:15 against Cudworth.

Longhorns earn a Provincial Silver Medal!

Rosthern Longhorns Earn Silver Medal!!

The Rosthern Longhorns earned the right to compete in the Six Man 2A Provincial Final with playoff wins against Hudson Bay and Wynyard.  The final game was played Saturday, November 9 in Watrous vs. the defending champion Watrous Wildcats.  The Watrous team started the game strongly and scored early in their first possession.  The Longhorns did not take advantage of several key opportunities and found themselves down 28-8 at half time.  The second half was a different story as the Longhorns outscored the Wildcats 24-16.   However it proved to be too little too late as the Wildcats prevailed 44-32.  The Longhorns completed their 2013 football season with a 7-1 record.  For many of the team's grade 12 players this was their second silver medal in the past three years.  Congratulations to the players and coaches from RJC and RHS on a great season of football!

Girls Volleyball at Conference Play Offs - November 9th

The Girls Volleyball hosted regional playoffs on Saturday November 9th.  The girls placed first in their pool by defeating  Asquith and LCBI.  The girls gave up a match to SCS in the cross over. This dropped them into a must win match against LCBI.  This victory earned them the 3rd position in tournament play.  This secured the girls a trip to Provincials in Watrous and Lanigan next weekend.  Check the website for the draw.  Congratulations Girls!

A huge thank you goes out to the girl's parents( and a couple of dedicated RJC students, Brandon, Vincent and Roch!)  as without their help this tournament would have been impossible to host.  They took care of the majority of the minor officiating, floor sweeping, general maintenance, feeding of the team, and cleaning up!  Thanks again to all that helped out!
