Wheat kings vs Shellbrook

The Rosthern Midget Wheat Kings continued their strong start to the season with a convincing home win over the visiting Shellbrook team 9-3.  The Wheat Kings continue to improve in defensive zone play and passing accuracy, making them a tough team to play.

Brendan does an excellent job of keeping the Shellbrook winger outside of the slot area in the Wheat King defensive zone.

Jared looks to score with the Shellbrook goalie down and out!

Jake starts the break out play from behind his own net as he passes the puck up ice to his winger.

Michael looks to shoot 5 hole or top corner.............or maybe he hits the goalie in the chest!

Nathan steams up the ice with the puck.

Paul once again fails to score on a point blank chance.  (Paul wrote this caption himself)

Ryan in hot pursuit of the Shellbrook forward as he hustles back to help out the defense.

Travis was solid between the pipes.

Tyler speeds past the Shellbrook players and carries the puck into scoring range.

Wheat King fans cheer on their favorite players at the Rosthern Jubilee Sports Center.

Girl's finish strong at Regional Vball

The Girl's Volleyball team had a strong finish to their season, and showed just how much they have improved and learned from the start of the season. Making it to the semi-finals, the girls finished two points shy of going onto provincials, but they held their heads high. They came together as a team and learned to great volleyball players, and great teammates.

An epic three-woman block from Nicole, Jaye, & Steph I.

Emily adds a karate kick to her approach for some extra power.

Twice the chance of an excellent pass, Nicole is there to have Jaye's back.

Laura takes on her role as Libero with style and finesse.

The Stephs watch as Nicole makes another perfect set.

Steph Isaak makes the pass with excellent form.

Steph Willie gives it all she's got.

Longhorns Finish Great Season with Silver Medal

The Rosthern Longhorn football season came to an end on a snowy and slippery field in Hudson Bay where the host Hudson Bay Riders proved themselves to be the better team that day.  The bigger Riders were able to use their size to advantage, while the winter conditions limited the faster Longhorns from doing all they were capable of.  Hats off to Hudson Bay on their championship season and to their volunteers who worked hard to make the field as playable as possible.

Despite the loss in the championship game the Longhorns had a fantastic season with great games and a lifetime of memories!!

Brendan leans into his man as he blocks downfield for the Longhorn offense.

Jared takes on the Riders blocker as he looks past him to track down the Hudson Bay ball carrier.

Jem and Matthew team up to take down the Riders pass receiver.

Jordan N. engulfs the Riders offensive player giving him no chance to gain any more yards.

Josh D. makes sure the Riders quarterback is stopped in his tracks.

Every point counts!  Michael pins the ball for Josh I. as he kicks another convert.

Matthew heads for daylight as he returns a Hudson Bay kick for a touchdown.

Michael avoids the Rider rush and spots Paul open down field.

Morgan joins forces with Matthew to bring down the tough Hudson bay Rider ball carrier.

Paul keeps an eye on the defense as he runs in the open field.

Ryan cuts to his left as he runs with the ball, causing the Rider player to lose his footing.
