Longhorns Defeat Wildcats in Provincial Semi-Final Action!

Longhorns Defeat Wildcats in Provincial Semi-Final Action!

The Rosthern Longhorns continued their storybook season with a come from behind 40-33 win over the defending provincial champion Winston (Watrous) Wildcats in front of a great home crowd on Saturday, November 5.  The Longhorns now advance to the provincial final in Hudson Bay Saturday, November 12.  Game time is 1 pm.  The Longhorns have played in the provincial semi-finals in 3 of the past 5 years but this is the first time a Rosthern football team has played in the championship game since the early 1970's.

Longhorn team captains led the team out on to the field at the beginning of the game.  Rosthern High School did a tremendous job of hosting the playoff games with banners, music, tailgaiting parties and face painting!!

Brendan extends his arms and takes on the Wildcat pass rusher.

Jem, Ryan and Jordan N. all team up to stop the Wildcat ballcarrier.

Jordan N. was unstoppable all game long as he consistently beat his block and disrupted plays in the Watrous backfield.

Josh D. hangs on for dear life as he tackles the Wildcat pass receiver.

Matt fights for extra yards, dragging one Watrous defender behind him while another tries to bring him down.

Michael looks to elude the Wildcat defender on a running play.

Morgan blitzes effectively and finds himself in the Watrous backfield lining up the running back for a loss.

Jordan N. and Jared drive forward  as the Longhorns defense attempts to stop the Wildcat offense from crossing the goal line.

Paul has a step on the Wildcat defensive back as he reaches for the pass.

Ryan makes another sure handed tackle in the open field.  The Longhorn defense effectively shut down the Watrous running game.

Josh I. was automatic under pressure as he successfully converted all of the Longhorn touchdowns, adding 10 much needed points to the team total.

TOUCHDOWN!!  Michael is on the bottom of the pile after successfully crossing the Wildcat goal line.

Fan support was tremendous!!  It was an exciting and intense game for players and fans alike.
