Longhorns vs Hague

The Rosthern Longhorns completed a perfect 7-0 regular season with a convincing 52-0 win over the Hague Panthers. This is the second year in a row that the Longhorns have won all of their scheduled games in Conference 4. The game provided another opportunity for the whole Longhorn team to play as well as serve as a tune-up for the team's first Provincial playoff game. The Longhorns will be hosting the Canora Cougars on Saturday, October 30 at 1:00 pm. All Longhorns home games are played at the RHS field.

Quarterback Michael is given great pass protection from Jordan and Paul as he locates his receiver downfield.

Running back Evan gets back into the swing of things with a long run. Evan missed almost a month of the season with a broken finger. The team is glad to have his veteran experience and speed back in the lineup for their provincial run.
It took the entire Longhorns defence to to tackle this big Hague Panthers ball carrier!
Running back Ryan heads for the end zone after catching a pass from Michael.
Defensive teammates Jem and Jared join forces to limit the Hague running back to a minimal gain on the play.

Girls soccer Update

The girls' soccer team played to a victory over Martensville on Monday, Oct.18. 2010.
On Wednesday, we played against LCBI and lost by 1 goal.
On Saturday, Oct. 23, we played District playoffs at VCA at Osler. Our first game was a very challenging game against Se Se Wa Hum. Both teams gave it all they had which resulted in a tie game at the end of regulation and two five minutes overtimes so we had to go to a shootout. Due to a stellar performance from Kate MacArthur as keeper we won the shoot out. This brought us to play against VCA half an hour later who had fresh legs and they successfully won the district championship. We are looking forward to Provincials next week and encouraged that we qualified on our own merit! Below are a few pictures from the Martensville game.

Volleyball Update Oct 25th

On Oct 15 and 16, RJC hosted its annual fall alumni tournament. There were competitions in the sports of soccer, touch football and volleyball. There was fun had by all, as well as many aches and pains as older alumni vied to keep up with younger generations. Here are some of the pictures from the volleyball portion of the weekend.

Luke passes the ball and appears to be singing a very high note at the same time.

The girls' volleyball team had lots of fun at alumni tournament, and continued to improve their skills this past weekend at tournament in Lanigan. The wonderful and warm hospitality from Gayle and Herman Warkentin, who hosted our team, and the yummy food provided by parents made for a very enjoyable weekend of volleyball. The girls are looking forward to playing in Conference playoffs at Waldheim on November 6.
