Longhorn Football earns First Win!!

The Rosthern Longhorn football team, a joint venture with players and coaches from Rosthern High School and RJC, scored an impressive season opening victory on the road defeating PACI 62-8 on Friday, Sept. 11. The game was never in doubt as Jon Willie ran the opening kickoff back for the Longhorn's first major score and the team did not look back. Other players who scored included Paul Ayres (3 tds), Michael Epp ( 1 td and 12 points in converts), Evan Brockman (2 td) and Erik Epp (1 td). The defence got into the act with a 2 point safety touch as well.

The game was a great start to the season as the entire roster was able to see game action. In fact, the Longhorns were able to use 11 different players as ball carriers and pass receivers. With many returning players, the team is able to count on a lot of experience to go along with the enthusiasm of a large rookie group.

Next game action is Thursday, September 17 in Spiritwood.
