RJC Winter Sports Teams see Playoff Action!

It's playoff time and the Rosthern Midget Wheat Kings find themselves right in the thick of things.  In round one the Wheat Kings played Shellbrook "A", winning the series in two games.  The second round saw the Wheat Kings face off against the Hague Midget Royals.  Hague was favoured to win, having finished higher than the Wheat Kings in the regular season, but the Rosthern squad saved some of their best hockey for the playoffs and also won their second series in two games.  This placed the team in the league semi-finals against Shellbrook "B" who finished first in conference league play.  The games were close, however Shellbrook took the series winning games 6-5 and 7-5.  The Wheat Kings will now play for bronze against the loser of the other semi-final featuring Prince Albert and Cudworth.

RJC girls basketball traveled to Aberdeen to participate in conference play-offs. We played Saturday morning against the home team and handily won. That win moved the team to the gold medal Saturday afternoon against long-time rivals, Hague. It was a tough, equal match, but after a physical four quarters, RJC managed to pull ahead and stay there until the end. As conference champs, we've been seeded into regional play offs where we will see Lashburn on Friday evening. We'll need to win Friday's game, as well as one on Saturday, in order to move on to Hoopla in Moose Jaw the following weekend. Wish us luck!

The RJC boys basketball team competed at conference playoffs the past weekend. They opened the tournament against Hague, and after a close first quarter, the RJC team pulled away for a convincing win and a spot in the conference finals. In the finals, the guys played Stobart. It was an intense game with lots of back and forth action, but the RJC team gradually pulled away for the win and a gold medal as conference champs. Two wins at regionals secures a position at Hoopla. RJC will take on Minahik Waskahigan at 8:00 on Friday March 11th at VCA.
