Bronze Medal for Boys Volleyball!

The RJC boys volleyball team competed in the 3A provincial high school at the end of November.  The boys traveled to Carnduff in the far South-East corner of the province for the tournament.  After some excitement with the van breaking down at Regina, the boys arrived at the tournament with some fancy new vehicles.  The first game of the tournament was against number 1 seed Kelvington, and the boys played well, taking them to three sets but ultimately dropping the match to the Golden Hawks.  The boys also dropped their second match to Montmartre in a close 3 set affair.  The last game on Friday also went to 3 sets, with the boys winning the decisive third set in a must win situation.  Saturday morning finished off pool play with a 2 set win against Stanley Mission, which saw the boys finish 2nd in their pool.  In the quarterfinals, the guys played Neilburg.  The first set was a nail-biter, but the RJC guys prevailed 29-27.  In the second set, the boys took control and won the match in 2 games.  In the semifinal, the boys played our nemesis from Saskatoon Christian and dropped a close 3 set match, which allowed the guys to play for bronze.  In the bronze medal game, the boys came out strong against Kinistino and built a good lead before Kinistino closed the gap to make it a tight game, although RJC managed to hold on for the win.  In the second set, the guys played strong defense and had timely hitting which allowed them to win the match in two sets and take home the bronze medal.  Congratulations to the guys on their provincial medal and a great season!
