Boys Bball Home Opener and First Trimester Report

The RJC boys basketball team hosted Blaine Lake on Monday, Dec. 19 in their home opener.  RJC's stifling brand of zone defense was on full display, while on the offensive end the boys pushed the ball and found open shots all over the floor.  The 91-30 victory lifted the team's record above .500 to 5-4 on the season.  This came after an impressive showing the previous weekend at the SHSAA, "Speak up for Sportsmanship" tournament in Regina, where the boys finished in a tie for first, losing out on the championship plaque by point differential.  RJC defeated Asquith handily in the first round, advancing to the A side bracket, where they lost by 6 to conference rival VCA and then triumphed 52-49 over last year's provincial runner-up, Regina Christian School.  The team will shut things down over the Christmas break and then come back strong in the new year starting with the alumni and home tournaments the first two weekends in January.
