Longhorns vs Birch Hills

The Rosthern Longhorns continued their 2011 football season with a home opening victory against Birch Hills.  The veteran Longhorn team proved to be more than the newly formed Birch Hills squad could handle, winning easily.  The game was a great learning experience for both teams, as all players had the chance to see the field and play.
Paul keeps his eye on the Birch Hills defender as he returns a kick off.

Matthew leans forward for extra yards as two Birch Hills teammates try to drag him down on a punt return while Jem (12) looks to help with a block.

Josh I. shows off his placekicking form as he attempts a convert after a Longhorn touchdown.  Michael is the holder and Paul (21) is blocking.

The Birch Hills running back turns the corner as Jordan and Jem hustle to make a tackle.

Matt goes high in the air to intercept the Birch Hills pass.

Josh D. gives all he's got to take down the Birch Hills ball carrier.

Jem gets a great upfield push from his defensive end position.

Jake (52) and Brendan (25) double team their opponent, allowing Michael to escape to the outside.

Jake and Jordan fire out of their stance on the snap of the ball.

Brendan looks for an open running lane as Jake blocks for him downfield.

Ryan ties up the Birch Hills ball carrier, stopping the play in it's tracks.

Jared effectively ties up two Birch Hills blockers, allowing his teammates behind him free reign to make tackles.

Josh I. gained valuable game experience as a young quarterback in this game.

Following an effective blitz, Ryan and Jared are both in hot pursuit of the Birch Hills quarterback as they look to sack him in the backfield.

Michael hands the ball off to Josh D. on a misdirection play as Jake (52) looks to lead the play.

Josh I. turns to hand the ball off to his running  back while Ryan, Jake and Paul set up their blocks for the play.
