The RJC boys curling team stopped at the Red Bull gas station in Radisson to refuel on their way to Regionals on Feb. 18 & 19 in Neilburg. It was an important stop. 'Rubbing the bull's head is considered good luck', said Ryan, the coach. But, due to heavy winds, team member Luke Z. didn't hear the coach's advice and neglected to rub the bull's head. As a result of this unfortunate oversight the boys had some bad luck and did not advance to provincial playoffs as they hoped. 'If only I had rubbed the bull's head', lamented Luke. 'I knew I should have repeated myself in Radisson,' said coach Ryan 'I should have spoken louder. That was a rookie coaching mistake; I know better than that.' The misfortune continued. Cole F. was only given a single quarter-pounder, not the double that he ordered, at the McDonald's in North Battleford. 'I was crushed,' said the dejected second, 'and I knew it was a bad omen'. But after the team's final defeat to Ile le Crosse the team's spirits were lifted by the comforting words of their skip, Matthew H. 'Next year boys, next year'. And so ends the 2011 curling season, a good year, and a hint of new adventures to come with four of the five members returning for the 2012 season.
