RJC 2015 Winter sport season comes to a end!

The RJC winter sports season has come to an end.  Although students are looking forward to the beginning of the spring sport season, we just want pause and  highlight our winter teams and all the handwork they put into their seasons.   Special thanks to the grade 12 students who provided leadership and positive role models on their teams.

The RJC boys’ and girls’ curling teams competed in district playoffs in Dalmeny on February 6.  Neither team advanced to regionals, but both teams played competitive games.  “It was fun to do something really Canadian!”, said Miriam Driedger, a RJC student from Germany who played second on the girls’ team.

The boys’ midget hockey team’s season came to an end with a loss to Hague in the first round of playoffs.  Thanks to all of the fans who supported the team throughout the season!

On March 14, the Boys' and Girls' Basketball teams competed in Conference Playoffs.  The girls lost to Hague in an aggressive game that ended their season.  “All of us improved in our own ways,” said Christie L. reflecting on the season.  “It was my first year playing basketball”, said grade 11 student Dannica F.  “I want to play again next year; we became a team by the end.”

The boys faced a tough draw and were defeated by Ecole Canadienne Francaise in their first game.  The players took the loss in stride as they played well against a tough opponent.  “We started the year as a team, and left as brothers,” quipped grade 11 student Christian F.
